I am Jake Costello.

I'm an Australian born, multidisciplinary graphic artist who grew up on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. My story started like many other kids my age. I was fascinated by video games, films and in particular my morning cartoons. Funnily enough, not much has changed all these years later.

I’ve always had an incredibly vivid imagination. As a child I loved to draw. I was an artistic youngster totally enthralled in fantasy and the concept of exploring imaginative new things. I knew from a young age exactly what I wanted to do; I wanted to create. It’s become apparent now that this appetite for creativity wouldn’t be satisfied during my childhood.

I graduated from high school in 2010, top of my class in Graphics, Information Technology and Multimedia Studies. I then attended the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Vice Chancellor Scholarship. Here I would complete my Bachelors of Computer Based Design, majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Electronic Media. I managed to win some stuff along the way too. My design was chosen for our wide format exhibition branding and my portfolio was a highly acclaimed finalist at our graduate exhibition.

I now boast close to 4 years’ industry experience, having worked with a variety of design studios, agencies and marketing teams. I have been privileged to work closely with both smaller, local businesses and much larger, national and global corporations. The wide variety of projects I’ve undertaken span from print design, digital, web, illustration to typography.

I am immensely passionate about design. It seems odd to some people that my profession and my hobby are one and the same. However, I love what I do. I believe that if you do something you enjoy, than you never have to work a day in your life.

I have evolved from a creative kid into, well, an equally as creative bigger kid. Truth be told, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
